Description Job description At Serve the People Health Care Center our mission is to provide the physical, mental, emotional, and mentoring needs of families and children of all ages. We are looking to board a compassionate Patient Support Associate team member to work with our Behavioral Health team. The primary function of the Patient Support Associate is to provide direct and indirect clerical/appointment support to the clinicians. The Patient Support Associate is expected to inform the clinician(s) of the information given or actions taken. Responsible for pre-registration, financial determination, appointment scheduling, providing support to BH clinical staff and coordinating of all front office and registration functions as part of one or more clinical teams. Serves as liaison between clinical teams and other staff, other agencies, and patients JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately schedules for assigned clinicians, ensuring that schedule reflects appropriate behavioral health clinician and effective use of clinical hours. Monitors no-shows/cancellations for available slots where walk-ins or add-ons can be placed. Pre-registers all patients for assigned clinicians, asking and recording answers to all pre-registration questions. Responsible for scheduling appointments and cancellations Upload all documentation, this include but limited to; STP registration packet, inform consent, court documents and custody agreements. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner Check-in all patients appropriately and notified clinical provider when patient is ready for appointment Attaches all appropriate paperwork such as financial assistance forms and POS reports to encounter forms. Performs financial transactions at the time of the visit, including collecting all co-payments and keeping record of unpaid amounts and accurately closes the day and balances cash bag. Answers telephones, handling calls as needed and taking messages when appropriate. Educate the patient regarding financial responsibility and STPCHC policies regarding payment Communicates frequently with the clinical team regarding patient requests, scheduling issues or other aspects of duties. Effectively maintains and protects the confidentiality of all medical records and patient information. Works cooperatively with other staff members and displays flexibility in accepting, changing or carrying out assignments. High level of skill in maintaining calm, professional, courteous and helpful demeanor in times of stress. Ability to prioritize work and complete it on a timely basis with minimal supervision. Strong customer service approach to problem solving situations. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma required or equivalent Basic computer literacy. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience working with common health care programs. Experience working with patient registration procedures. Basic knowledge of medical or behavioral health terminology.
