Job Description Faculty Opportunity in Behavioral Health Sciences – Medical Education Location: Barbados Are you passionate about shaping the next generation of physicians? Join our dynamic faculty team at Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), where education is at the heart of everything we do. We’re seeking an experienced and innovative educator in Behavioral Health to help deliver a learner-centered, technology-enhanced curriculum that prepares students for success in medical practice. What You’ll Do: As a faculty member, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-impact education and supporting student success through: Teaching & Curriculum Development Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and small group sessions. Facilitate Case-Based and Problem-Based Learning discussions. Create course materials, practice questions, and formative assessments. Write and review NBME-style questions for exams and practice. Participate in curriculum review and development with departmental colleagues. Student Support & Advising Work one-on-one with highly motivated students. Advise students on academic matters and refer to support services as needed. Collaborate with the Academy for Teaching and Learning to enhance student outcomes. Technology-Enhanced Learning Incorporate modern teaching tools and educational apps (e.g., Zoom, Kahoot, NearPod, Turning Point). Utilize mobile learning platforms, iPads, and interactive content creation (e.g., iBooks). Deliver interactive instruction both in-person and remotely. Professional Engagement & Collaboration Serve on faculty committees and advisory groups. Engage in scholarly activities and medical education research. Participate in ongoing faculty development and professional activities. Compliance & Contribution Adhere to institutional policies and standards. Contribute to other academic initiatives as assigned by the Department Chair or Executive Dean. Qualifications Required Qualifications: MD with a specialty in Psychiatry, or PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or a doctoral degree in a relevant Behavioral Health field. Licensed Clinical Psychologist or Board Eligible/Board Certified Psychiatrist preferred. Extensive expertise across Behavioral Sciences (e.g., psychopathology, communication, developmental theory, multicultural health). Prior teaching experience at a North American or UK medical school strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills in English. Proven ability to collaborate across departments and resolve conflicts effectively. Familiarity with medical education principles, teaching methods, and technologies. Commitment to continuous improvement and openness to feedback. Willingness to reside in Barbados. Preferred Qualifications: Documented record of teaching effectiveness. Experience with educational technologies (LMS, online exams, videoconferencing, audience response systems). Ability to apply active teaching methods and learner-centered strategies. Experience initiating and presenting scholarly research. Background in faculty development and student support programming. Additional Information Why RUSM?
