Description

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Specialist (Bilingual) to serve as a Case Manager. The position is in the Behavioral Healthcare Division of DHS and will serve clients by providing outreach, engagement, support, case management and care coordination. The position will work with clients who have Substance Use Disorder (SUD) diagnoses, Co-Occurring SUD, and serious mental health disorders. This Behavioral Health Specialist (Bilingual) will collaborate with a team of multidisciplinary providers including psychiatrists, medical doctors, therapists, community, and natural supports. Services take place in the office, community, and client’s homes.

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans based on diagnosis and functional needs of client, incorporating a variety of information from interviews, family members, other persons involved with client, other care providers, court records, etc;
  • Prepares and manages treatment and/or case management records and files; participates on treatment team and/or in staff meetings;
  • Provides information/consults with other professionals concerning diagnoses and treatment;
  • Conducts risk assessments, crisis stabilization services and makes determinations regarding placement and level of care decisions;
  • Assists with psychoeducation group facilitation;
  • Links clients to services and coordinating their ongoing care; conducting comprehensive assessments within the scope of the position and developing treatment plans and monitoring progress toward service goals;
  • Develop and supports maximum independence skills in clients to promote recovery and a transition to discharge from services when appropriate; collaborating with natural supports and other client providers to maximize effective engagement and support; and
  • Documents in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and according to all regulatory and administrative standards, all treatment needs, and services delivered.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work under pressure, perform as a team player, possess strong communication and documentation skills, and be familiar with evidence-based practices, recovery principles, and person-centered care.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of appointment, a valid motor vehicle operator’s license from the applicant’s place of residence or the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at locations other than the primary worksite. If the applicant possesses or acquires a license, the applicant must provide or authorize Arlington County to obtain a copy of the applicant’s official state/district driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent on a favorable review of the applicant’s driving record.
A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
Must complete pre-hire federal background check and State of Virginia Central Registry check.
An assessment of oral Spanish proficiency will be required before a candidate can be appointed to the bilingual position. The incumbent in the position(s) will receive the language pay premium on all hours worked and on paid leave hours.

Employment restrictions : To ensure that dual relationships are avoided and that employees who are also clients do not relate to their service provider as co-professionals, employees will not be hired by the County to provide or support services to the team or program in which they are current clients:

  • You cannot concurrently receive behavioral health services from Arlington County Community Service Board (CSB) programs while employed in an Arlington County CSB program (exception Crisis Intervention services).
  • At least 24 months must have passed between receipt of CSB services from Arlington County and employment in an Arlington County CSB program.
