NOVA TC is looking for full-time Behavioral Health Technicians. The Behavioral Health Technician assists the treatment team in the provision of therapy, education and re-socialization skill training for the treatment of adolescents displaying a variety of addictive and behavioral disorders related to alcohol and drug use using the techniques of the Treatment Community model.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Associate’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services or related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two years experience in human services or related field required.
  • Two years experience working with children.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of the psychological effects of chemical dependency on human behavior.
  • Ability to form effective therapeutic alliances with program members, their families, other employees and to function in a multi-disciplinary team
  • General knowledge of treatment theory and techniques associated with therapeutic intervention including the treatment community model
  • General knowledge of facility security associated with therapeutic intervention including the treatment community model or the ability to do so within the probationary period.
  • Valid driver’s license that meets agency standards and ability to meet transportation needs of agency.
  • Acquire and maintain certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Acquire and maintain certification as a Medication Aide in the state of Nebraska.
  • Acquire and maintain certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of a therapeutic environment that fulfills the physical, emotional, social, educational and behavioral needs of the program members.
  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with assigned individual program members in order to assist them with treatment plan activities.
  • Maintain an accurate clinical record that documents program member’s service needs, treatment plans, and progress utilizing agency format and standards for clinical recording.
  • As a Coordinator be responsible for setting youth up for success by mentoring, taking an active role in youth’s treatment, regular communication with youth’s therapist, and ensuring the youth have necessary items in possession.
  • Provide on-site supervision of program members and ensure that all treatment activities occur as scheduled.
  • Administer and control medications when prescribed by physicians in accordance with agency procedures and training.
  • Assist in the supervision of program members in treatment and/or school activities, including housekeeping activities, group facilitation, recreation and leisure time activities in order to insure an environment that is conducive to the physical, emotional and social well-being of all program members.
  • Ability to meet the transportation needs of the community.
  • Conduct routine security checks i.e. room searches, head counts, alarm checks etc.
  • Maintain an accurate account of all program members.
  • Complete monthly UA’s on youth that return from pass and randomly.
  • Intervene and de-escalate volatile situations including physical aggression and property destruction utilizing NOVA TC’s Crisis Intervention Policy and techniques as taught through the Crisis Prevention Institute if needed.
  • Ensure the safety and security of program members and facility.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $18.50 - $19.00 per hour
