About the Role: The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health and emotional challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position focuses on implementing treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and managing crisis situations to ensure patient safety and well-being. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assisting in the development and execution of discharge plans to facilitate smooth transitions for patients. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Behavioral Health Technician contributes to creating a therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and resilience. Ultimately, this role is essential in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care within a structured behavioral health setting. Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred. * Certification or training in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or related clinical areas. * Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, preferably in a clinical or residential setting. * Strong knowledge of clinical documentation standards and mental health care protocols. * Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively while maintaining patient safety. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, nursing, or a related behavioral health field. * Previous experience with serious emotional disturbance (SED) populations. * Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation software. * Additional certifications such as CPR, First Aid, or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI). * Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Responsibilities: * Provide direct patient care and support to individuals with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and other mental health conditions. * Conduct clinical assessments and assist in monitoring patient progress according to established treatment plans. * Manage crisis situations through effective crisis intervention techniques to ensure patient and staff safety. * Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and discharge plans. * Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized discharge plans and follow-up care. * Participate in team meetings and communicate patient needs and changes in condition promptly. * Assist patients with daily living activities and promote therapeutic engagement in treatment programs. Skills: The Behavioral Health Technician utilizes clinical documentation skills daily to ensure accurate and timely recording of patient information, which is essential for continuity of care. Crisis management and intervention skills are critical for responding effectively to emergencies and de-escalating potentially volatile situations. Clinical assessment abilities enable the technician to observe and report changes in patient behavior, contributing to informed treatment decisions. Knowledge of mental health conditions and patient care techniques supports compassionate and individualized care delivery.
