About the Role: The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position focuses on implementing treatment plans, conducting clinical assessments, and managing crisis situations to ensure patient safety and well-being. The technician is responsible for maintaining accurate clinical documentation and assisting in the development and execution of discharge plans. By working closely with patients experiencing Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) and other behavioral health conditions, the technician helps facilitate recovery and promotes a therapeutic environment. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall effectiveness of behavioral health services at the Huntsville Regional Office by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and supporting clinical teams in crisis intervention and patient management. Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and ability to maintain accurate records. * Basic understanding of crisis management and intervention techniques. * Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in mental health or behavioral health settings, including direct patient care. * Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential. * Experience working with children and adolescents with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). * Training in advanced crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies. * Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in behavioral health. * Additional coursework or certification in mental health, psychology, or social work. Responsibilities: * Provide direct patient care and support to individuals with mental health and behavioral challenges in accordance with established treatment plans. * Conduct clinical assessments and assist in monitoring patient progress to inform care adjustments and interventions. * Manage crisis situations through timely and effective crisis intervention techniques to ensure patient and staff safety. * Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and discharge plans. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized discharge plans and follow-up care strategies. * Support patients with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) by facilitating therapeutic activities and promoting positive behavioral outcomes. * Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies related to patient care and documentation. Skills: The required skills such as clinical documentation and maintaining accurate records are essential for tracking patient progress and ensuring continuity of care. Crisis management and crisis intervention skills are applied daily to respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring safety and stability for patients and staff. Clinical assessments enable the technician to gather critical information that informs treatment adjustments and supports individualized care plans. Knowledge of mental health conditions, including Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED), allows the technician to provide empathetic and appropriate patient care. Additionally, skills in discharge planning facilitate smooth transitions for patients from inpatient care to community or outpatient services, promoting long-term recovery and support.
