About the Role: DAY SHIFT The Behavioral Health Technician plays a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health and emotional challenges by providing direct care and assistance under the supervision of clinical staff. This position is essential in ensuring the safety, well-being, and progress of patients through effective crisis intervention, clinical assessments, and the implementation of individualized care plans. The technician will contribute to the development and execution of discharge plans, ensuring continuity of care and support for patients transitioning out of treatment. By maintaining accurate and thorough clinical documentation, the Behavioral Health Technician supports the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. Ultimately, this role is vital in fostering a therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and resilience for individuals with serious emotional disturbances (SED). Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred. * Experience working with individuals with mental health disorders, particularly serious emotional disturbances (SED). * Knowledge of clinical documentation standards and ability to maintain detailed records. * Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and management. * Ability to perform clinical assessments and support discharge planning processes. Preferred Qualifications: * Certification as a Behavioral Health Technician or equivalent credential. * Experience in a healthcare or behavioral health services setting. * Training in trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques. * Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. * Additional coursework or certification in mental health or social services. Responsibilities: * Conduct clinical assessments and monitor patient behavior to identify needs and progress. * Provide direct patient care and support, including crisis intervention and management during acute episodes. * Assist in the development and implementation of individualized discharge plans in collaboration with the care team. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective treatment delivery. * Support patients in daily activities and therapeutic interventions to promote mental health and well-being. * Respond promptly and effectively to behavioral crises, ensuring patient and staff safety. * Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in behavioral health. Skills: The required skills such as clinical documentation and maintaining accurate records are essential for ensuring compliance and effective communication within the care team. Crisis management and crisis intervention skills are applied daily to respond to and de-escalate behavioral emergencies, ensuring safety and stability. Clinical assessments enable the technician to monitor patient progress and inform treatment adjustments, while knowledge of mental health and serious emotional disturbances (SED) guides compassionate and appropriate patient care. Developing and supporting discharge plans requires coordination and communication skills to facilitate smooth transitions for patients. Together, these skills enable the Behavioral Health Technician to provide comprehensive support that enhances patient outcomes and contributes to a therapeutic care environment.
