Behavioral Health Therapist I The Inova Behavioral Health Services Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is looking for a dedication Behavioral Health Therapist I to join the team. This program can help people who are stepping down from inpatient care, providing structure and encouragement as individuals re-enter their family and community environments. This program can also be step up from outpatient care, with the goal of helping people avoid inpatient psychiatric admission. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This program is in Fairfax, VA, near Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Behavioral Health Therapist I Job Responsibilities: Performs duties under the clinical supervision of an approved clinical supervisor registered with the DBHDS or receives clinical supervision from an approved clinical supervisor registered with the DBHDS. Provides care coordination to ensure the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment and intervention outcomes. • Provides a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan. Provides a range of mental health and/or substance use disorders therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan. May participate in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach. Duties will be performed under the clinical supervision of an approved clinical supervisor. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or behavioral health-related field Experience: Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment completed within 90 days of employment. Certification: Basic Life Support Within 3 Months. CPI in-person training for non-violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire. After 9/1/25, Vistelar replaces CPI for new and renewed de-escalation certifications. Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP) within 5 years. Must comply with the appropriate licensing board requirement for registering as a Resident in Training or Supervisee in Clinical Social Work or applicable title identified by the specific licensing board within 4 months of hire.
