Description

ABOUT SELIS

Selis Autism & Child Development Institutions is a family-centred, one-stop hub for education, therapy, and coordinated care in British Columbia. We partner with parents, schools, and clinicians to deliver integrated, data-driven supports for autistic and neurodivergent learners.
Summary
We’re seeking a Behaviour Consultant to design and oversee high-impact behaviour supports across our therapeutic and educational programs. You’ll collaborate with SLPs, OTs, educators (ECE/EA), and BIs to create individualized plans that improve communication, regulation, learning, independence, and participation at school and home.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional behaviour assessments (FBA), review ABC/data, and develop individualized, trauma-informed Behaviour Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Align behaviour goals with Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), IEPs, and clinical targets (SLP/OT), ensuring consistent strategies across settings.
  • Coach and supervise BIs/EAs/ECEs: model strategies, set fidelity checks, and provide actionable feedback.
  • Provide parent/caregiver coaching, biweekly progress updates, and lead monthly case conferences with families, schools, and clinicians.
  • Select and support AAC/PECS use; embed naturalistic teaching, prompting/fading, reinforcement, generalization, and precision teaching.
  • Integrate sensory and self-care ladders (toileting/hygiene) with OT; proactive regulation and de-escalation plans.
  • Use data systems to graph outcomes and make timely treatment decisions; contribute to clear reports for families and funders.
  • Support program quality, ethics, and safety (positive behaviour support; crisis prevention readiness); contribute to staff training and workshops.
  • Collaborate on referrals, scheduling, and documentation aligned with BC Autism Funding and other funding streams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Psychology, Education, Behaviour Analysis, or related field (Master’s and/or BCBA preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Behaviour Consultant (or similar) supporting autistic learners (ideally ages 3–12), including non/minimally verbal students.
  • Demonstrated skill with ABA and allied, evidence-based approaches (e.g., NDBI, visual supports, task analysis, precision teaching) and AAC/PECS.
  • Strong data skills (collecting, charting, interpreting) and clear, compassionate communication with families and school teams.
  • Ability to lead training, coach diverse teams, and collaborate across disciplines (SLP/OT/ECE/EA/BI).
  • Assets: CPI/NVCI or equivalent safety training, First Aid/CPR, multilingual ability, school-based consultation experience, familiarity with BC Autism Funding processes.

Schedule & Location

  • Primarily on-site in Burnaby; focus on our therapeutic and educational programs with some flexible time for supervision, meetings, and family/school coordination.
  • Occasional evenings/weekends for workshops or case conferences as needed.

Why Selis

  • Integrated education + therapy model with tight school/family coordination.
  • Small, mission-driven team; measurable outcomes; strong professional growth opportunities.
  • Systems and tools for data-driven practice and high-quality caregiver support.
