M&M Supply are supporting a Alternative Provision School in Bristol who are seeking dedicated, patient, and compassionate Teaching Assistants. This role is ideal for someone with experience in supporting students with BESD and challenging behaviours, who is ready to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting students with challenging behaviours, BESD, or related special educational needs (desirable).
  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a background in supporting students with additional needs (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong understanding of strategies for managing challenging behaviours and promoting emotional well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
  • A patient, empathetic, and calm approach to working with children who require additional support.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with staff, families, and external professionals.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with challenging behaviours and BESD, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Support students in regulating their emotions and developing positive behavioural strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement tailored learning plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Assist with de-escalating challenging situations, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  • Foster a nurturing and understanding environment that promotes emotional and social development.
  • Encourage students to engage with the curriculum, build positive relationships, and work towards their individual goals.
  • Monitor and record student progress, behavior patterns, and emotional well-being, providing feedback to staff and parents.
  • Support students in building essential life skills, resilience, and confidence.
