Connections Behaviour Consulting is seeking compassionate, energetic individuals to join our team as behaviour technician with part-time hours. Our behaviour technicians work in homes, the community and our clinic with children and youth, and are responsible for the direct implementation of skill acquisition and behaviour reduction plans developed by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA®).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, special education, or related field; or possess a diploma in Autism Behavioural Sciences
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with special needs

Knowledge of:

  • Applied Behaviour Analysis (preferred)
  • Child development
  • Technology, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Assess situations and make proper judgments
  • Follow ethical guidelines
  • Objectively analyze crisis situations and respond quickly
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written form with a diverse group of clients, parents/caregivers, school personnel, and other agency staff
  • Use a computer and behavioural software to prepare documents and maintain client records
  • Work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines
  • Follow instructions from senior level staff
  • Work with a diverse team of professionals in a respectful manner
  • Supervise clients during treatment sessions

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of vulnerable-sector background check
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Willingness to complete 40 hour Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) training course and sit for RBT exam
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct behavioural services to clients in their homes throughout Waterloo and Wellington Regions
  • Run skill acquisition programs with clients under the direction of a supervisor
  • Work with Board Certified Behaviour Analysts and the Senior Therapist to implement individualized treatment plans
  • Collect data and graph data as instructed using technological programs, such as Microsoft Excel or behavioural software
  • Maintain respect and confidentiality
  • Maintain and protect the well-being of all clients during treatment sessions and when emergency crisis situations arise
  • Other job duties as assigned by the BCBA or other administrator
