Description

Anchor Rehabilitation Support Services is seeking Part Time Contractors: Behaviour Therapist Assistants with experience using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to work with youth and adults with autism spectrum disorder and/or developmental disabilities, high risk behaviours, dual diagnosis, and a wide variety of mental health difficulties. This therapist will work Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday. In conjunction with families, caregivers and a variety of treatment professionals, the Behaviour Therapist Assistant would implement behaviour support plans for children, youth, and adults with behavioural challenges.
The Behaviour Therapist Assistant will work as a member of an integrated service delivery team within autism services, developmental services and community agencies that serve individuals with complex special needs.
This individual would be operating under the supervision of Anchor’s Clinical Director and BCBA and may be provided with the opportunity to collect the needed supervision hours required to obtain their BCBA certification.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Diploma in behavioral sciences; Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field (for BCaBA) and/or have or in the process of completing a Master’s in Applied Behaviour Analysis or related Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst (BCaBA) certification OR working toward their board certified behavior analyst certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth and adults with autism spectrum disorder and/or developmental disabilities, high risk behaviour, dual diagnosis, and a wide variety of mental health difficulties.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing ABA principles and techniques.
  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to Provincial legislation (e.g.: PHIPA, Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Quality Assurance Measures, etc.).
  • Demonstrates flexibility and strong time-management skills to manage changing caseloads.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability must include weekends and evenings
  • Valid G class Ontario driver’s license.
  • Reliable form of insured transportation.
  • An up-to-date and clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Current First Aid and CPR training.
  • Current Safe Management (or equivalent) training.
  • Knowledge of ABA is required.
  • Knowledge of instructional procedures and training curriculums (e.g.: DTT, AIM, PEAK, EFL, AFLS, VB-MAPP etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; sound decision-making skills; excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in an additional language is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the BCBA, implement individualized treatment plans, behavioural support plans and ABA strategies.
  • Under the supervision of the BCBA, perform ongoing adjustments to current programs as needed.
  • Collect accurate program and behaviour data.
  • Complete session notes that are clear, professional and objective.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including Social Workers, Speech-Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, and Rehabilitation Therapy Assistants, as needed.
  • Ability to work in the field independently, without daily supervision while delivering ABA services to clients in their homes.
  • Maintain caseload of billable hours in addition to other duties as directed by Manager.
  • Communicate with Manager regularly regarding availability, schedules and client’s changing needs.
