Description JOB TITLE: Bell Person JOB SUMMARY: A Bellman for Skytop Lodge is a first point of contact for our guests. Responsible for greeting guests, opening doors, transporting guest luggage, and assisting other departments when needed. REPORTS TO: Bell Captain PRIMARY DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: 1. Greet guests upon arrival in a timely manner 2. Transport guest luggage to and from hotel rooms 3. Open hotel doors for guests 4. Storage of guest luggage, coats, and belongings 5. Keep assigned areas neat and tidy 6. Radio communication between team members when necessary (Front Desk, Operator, Shuttles, Security, Housekeeping, and Maintenance) 7. Confirming guest information via computer terminal 8. Starting and tending to lobby fireplace 9. Assist with Valet/Door Attendant duties when needed 10. Report any maintenance, safety hazards or problems to proper department RESPONSIBLE FOR: Luggage carts and guest items. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the ability to work at tasks that require walking, lifting and carrying. Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Job requires driving. Mobility is essential for this position. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work takes place primarily inside of the hotel, although outside work may be required. Work schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Must have open availability. Must have the ability to work in both hot and cold climate, sometimes extreme. HAZARDS ENCOUNTERED: Typical hazards associated with physical work, including lifting, carrying and bending and exposure to various weather conditions, hot, cold, ice, sleet, snow, rain etc. Requirements SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Must have good customer relations skills, good communication skills, and be service oriented. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Prior Bell Person or Door Attendant experience is helpful but training is provided. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: After training, have knowledge of the hotel layout and grounds, surrounding communities and departmental procedures. PERSONALITY REQUIREMENTS: Must be friendly, hospitable, courteous, service oriented, trustworthy, reliable, flexible and self-motivated. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver's license and be at least 21 years of age.
