THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The position is suited to someone who is looking to develop a career and build up a varied skill base. Experience in either joinery or upholstery if preferred. The role may be well suited to someone looking for employment in a different industry after a time in home furnishings such as frame makers or sofa upholstery. A high level of common sense and initiative is a must and a willingness to learn and adapt is necessary.

Essential requirements:

  • Full Driving License (preferably clean)
  • Physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks

Advantageous if you have:

  • CSCS card holder
  • DBS Checked
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience working in a production setting
  • Joinery / Woodworking Experience
  • Experience using a range of machinery including CNC routers, panel saws, sanding equipment, etc.
  • A creative mind that can engineer solutions to fit specifications set by our clients
  • Experience working with hand and power tools
  • GCSE’s or equivalent / higher level in, Woodworking, Engineering, Sciences.

Responsibilities
  • You will be working as part of a team manufacturing a range of sensory products used at a variety of establishments ranging from schools and nurseries to care homes and prisons.
  • You will report to the installation co-coordinator and product designers, assisting in the manufacture of sensory products in time for their fulfillment dates.
  • The role is multiskilled and will require the use of common sense and initiative as a lot of the work we carry out is of a bespoke nature.
  • Main tasks will include but are not limited to simple woodworking tasks, from sizing sheet timber on a panel saw through to simple manufacture of wood-based enclosures prior to upholstery. Cutting, gluing, and machining acrylic mirrors. The running of our CNC router machine and cutting of timber on a cross-cut saw. You will also be asked to carry out some paint spraying of certain items. Final assembly of products including the fitting of electronic circuitry and testing. You will also need to help with general housekeeping duties including goods inwards, keeping stores organised and packing deliveries/dispatch. Full training will be given.
  • During peak times and to help cover annual leave you may occasionally be asked to assist our installation teams on-site as a second person. This may require some staying away, where we will provide your own room and subsistence allowance. You will also have to work some overtime depending on the workload and project location
  • Adhere to our Health and Safety policy following our Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Identify ways to perform tasks in the most efficient and effective way possible and take part in our regular team meetings, providing input as to any improvements we can make to our procedures and processes.
