KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Acts as TransLink’s subject matter expert as it relates to benefit plans for all active and inactive employees; pension and flex benefits. Responds to requests, provides information and support to employees and management, including Human Resource colleagues to promote and educate on program and service availability.
Provides information to employees and management (via intranet, in person, meetings, etc.) regarding benefit entitlements and the application of related policies and procedures; provides information to Human Resources colleagues to promote ongoing programs and services within benefits and recognition. Assembles resources, guidelines and information packages for benefit programs across the enterprise and TransLink recognition program.
Ensures adherence to TransLink policies, procedures, collective agreements and applicable legislation for benefit, programs and monitoring for compliance.
Conducts research and analysis and prepares reports to track and monitor program performance and utilization; assists in researching and analyzing regulatory changes, industry trends, best practices, emerging changes and collective agreement changes impacting benefits. Develops and facilitates surveys to collect, compile and present information.
Supports the development and implementation of benefits & TransLink Recognition Program, including the implementation of new services, systems and programs. Develops project plans, identifies stakeholders and resource requirements; leads projects and facilitates the achievement of project milestones and deliverables.
Works with the manager to support the maintenance and modification of benefit plans and TransLink Recognition program; identifies areas of opportunity and makes recommendations for enhancements to existing programs and services.
Attends committee meetings, workshops, conferences, education seminars or training programs as a member of TransLink’s benefit team; collects information/data related to industry trends and best practices and makes recommendations to the manager.
Participates and represents the Benefits area in various benefits and human resources related projects to improve business practices and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma in Human Resources.
Four years’ progressive experience in human resources with a minimum of one year in benefit and pension administration is essential.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Solid knowledge of the principles and practices of benefits and pension administration.
Thorough knowledge of regulations and legislation applicable to benefits and pension.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify and recommend creative solutions.
Ability to multi task and remain composed when dealing with sensitive events/issues/activities.
Ability to interact effectively with a variety of individuals.
Demonstrated judgement, discretion and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Standard word processing tools including spreadsheet and web-based systems e.g., HRIS
PRIMARY PURPOSE

Conducts research for best practice, trends and methods, and provides recommendations; analysis and prepares reports to track and monitor program performance; supports the implementation of new systems, annual benefit rates, services and programs; provides information and education to employees and leaders to maintain program awareness; and ensures the ongoing compliance and continuous improvement of the benefit programs across the enterprise and TransLink’s recognition program.
