The Benefits & Payroll Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of payroll and benefits across multiple countries, with a core focus on the United States and Canada. You’ll be the subject matter expert on payroll compliance, tax regulations, and benefits administration. You’ll partner closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely, accurate execution and an excellent employee experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration with at least 4 years focused on US and Canadian payroll and tax compliance.
  • Solid understanding of US and Canadian labor laws, taxation rules, and benefits standard processes.
  • Experience working in a global company with multi-country payroll and benefits responsibilities.
  • Proficient in payroll systems and HRIS platforms (Dayforce experience a strong plus).
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a high standard for data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel/reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify sophisticated information for diverse audiences.
Responsibilities

Payroll Management:

  • Own and run semi-monthly and biweekly payroll cycles in the US and Canada.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state/provincial, and federal tax laws and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with finance for reconciliations, journal entries, and audit support.
  • Partner with EOR vendors and internal teams to support payroll in other global regions.

Benefits Administration:

  • Be responsible for US and Canadian benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), RRSPs, and wellness perks.
  • Lead annual benefits renewals, open enrollment, and vendor management.
  • Evaluate and recommend benefit enhancements to improve employee satisfaction and retention.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment and tax regulations in the US and Canada.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory payroll and benefits filings (e.g., W-2s, T4s, 1095-Cs, ACA).
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll and benefits.

Process Improvement & Documentation:

  • Build and refine SOPs for global payroll and benefits processes.
  • Partner with the People Ops and HRIS teams to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.
  • Leverage systems (e.g., Dayforce) for automation, reporting, and process efficiency.
