DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Five (5) years of experience performing benefit administration, preferably in heavy industry or mining;
  • Post-secondary Diploma in Business Administration or Accounting;
  • Organizational aptitude, strong prioritization capabilities and demonstrated proficiencies in detailed review; and
  • Proficient in HRIS and payroll systems such as Avanti, SAP, and SuccessFactors.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain employee benefits programs including Extended Health, Dental, Life Insurance, LTD, AD&D, Critical Illness, RRSP, TFSA, Health Spending Accounts (HSA), Virtual Care, and Employee & Family Assistance Programs (EFAP);
  • Prepare and file statutory and regulatory documents (T4s, ROEs, year-end reports, and benefits reconciliations) in compliance with federal and provincial legislation;
  • Process and reconcile benefits accounts; identify and resolve discrepancies with internal teams and external providers (e.g., SunLife);
  • Perform reconciliations between SuccessFactors, Avanti, and SunLife to ensure accuracy of benefits data;
  • Support payroll inbox management, including proper filing and follow-up;
  • Manage SunLife billing and payments, including Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) administration;
  • Provide employees with clear communication on benefit programs, responding to inquiries and guiding them through complex issues; and
  • Act as back-up for payroll processing when required.
