Summary:
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short- and long-term disability.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve benefits enrollments.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations and new hire onboarding as it relates to benefits.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits eligibility.
  • Assist employees with claim issues.
  • Process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, disability, and other general inquiries
  • Responds to retirement plan inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
  • Assists with the open enrollment process.
  • Process life claims and assist beneficiaries.
  • Assist with administration of voluntary benefits.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree in HR or related field or equivalent.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • With a Bachelor’s degree, no experience required.
  • With an Associates degree, requires two (2) years of experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
  • With an High school diploma, requires six (6) years of experience in HR and/or benefits administration.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent organizational and time management skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with a focus on Excel; Ability to maintain high level of accuracy; Good problem solving and decision making skills; Ability to work independently or as a team member; Commitment to confidentiality; Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
