ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

The Prince George Council of Seniors (PGCOS) is dedicated to supporting seniors in our community by offering a range of services and programs, including the Better at Home program. This initiative provides non-medical services that help seniors remain independent in their own homes. We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team and help make a difference in the lives of local seniors.
Job Summary:
As a Housekeeper with the Better at Home program, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of seniors’ homes and ensuring their living spaces are safe and comfortable. In addition to routine cleaning tasks, you will report any safety hazards to the homeowner and the Program Coordinator. This role requires a high level of trust, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to supporting seniors in Prince George.
You will need to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a dedication to creating positive experiences for the seniors we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general cleaning duties, including:
  • Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors
  • Dusting shelves and cleaning windows
  • Emptying trash cans
  • Cleaning bathrooms and kitchens
  • Changing linens and washing dishes upon request
  • Monitor and report any safety hazards to the homeowner or Program Coordinator.
  • Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and ready for use.
  • Replace mop heads and other cleaning materials between homes to maintain hygiene.
  • Adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Proven time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high cleaning standards.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with seniors.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Customer service-oriented, demonstrating compassion and patience when working with seniors.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage time and tasks efficiently.
  • Previous housekeeping experience is preferred.
  • Current knowledge of seniors’ issues is an asset.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be bondable and able to pass a Criminal Record Check.
  • Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and a firm commitment to the Prince George community.
  • Willingness to follow the organization’s safety protocols and procedures.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Pay: $23.10 per hour, up to 30 hours per week, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits: Eligible for benefits after a 3-month probationary period.
  • Mileage reimbursement for travel between clients’ homes.
