JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary: The BH Security Officer I-IV collaborates with all behavioral health staff to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees. This position is responsible for rounding interior assigned areas and assisting the department during internal and external situations that may affect normal hospital operations. BH Security Officer I responds to all departmental codes in designated locations.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Rounds interior assigned areas to ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors. Communicates timely to departmental leadership when appropriate.

Works with all behavioral health staff to provide a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and employees.

Responds to all departmental codes in the designated location.

Assist the department during internal and external situations that may affect normal hospital operations.

Demonstrates courteous and professional demeanor toward all persons when conducting business.

Participates in environmental safety rounds, seeks to resolve situations at hand, and communicates any safety concerns to leadership.

Provides patient and/or family service recovery to increase satisfaction, as appropriate. Makes routine patient rounds to improve engagement.

Supports staff through mentoring and acting as a resource for crisis interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification in Non-violent Crisis Training must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Completion of the Behavioral Health Security Training and a passing score (80%) on the examination within 30 days of hire.
  • Current JPS-recognized CPR Certification and must be maintained throughout employment. May be obtained subsequent to hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
