ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to:

  • Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values

  • Plan and implement capacity and resource expansion to ensure data lake scalability for cost and performance with minimal guidance. This includes but is not limited to an ability to architect and implement scalable BI solutions using Azure Data Lake and industry standard integration tools (i.e. Azure Data Factory/Data Flows, and Power BI).
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery, governance and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets independently.
  • Develop a technology roadmap aligned with desired capabilities and requirements in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders with moderate guidance to drive data-driven decision making.
  • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for the data lake in conjunction with data users, department managers, clients, and other key stakeholders with moderate guidance.
  • Guide the development, implementation, and maintenance of change control and testing processes on data lake independently.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on data lake products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts independently.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for ingestion and utilization of disparate data sources into the data lake with minimal guidance.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and select data warehouse components, including hardware, database management systems, ETL (extract, transform, load) software and meta data management tools independently.
  • Evaluate, design and maintain: data models, incremental data loading, ETL pipelines, and reporting solutions to support business operations and strategic decision-making with minimal guidance.
  • Monitor system details within the data warehouse, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements with minimal oversight.
  • Develop and execute a strategy that supports and enables advanced analytics and automation with minimal guidance.
  • Manage, coach and lead other technical members of the team independently.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: include but are not limited to:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering and/or 7-10 years equivalent work experience.
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting multi-terabyte data warehouses in Azure.
  • Experience in components necessary to secure and classify a data lake.
  • 5–7 years of experience in BI development, data architecture, or analytics, including team leadership.
  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Existing technical knowledge of modern systems software, protocols, and standards, including SQL Server, Snowflake/Databricks/Fabric, Python Data Libraries (Pandas/Polars/DuckDB), and Power BI.
  • Working experience with system design and greenfield projects.
  • Proficient in writing and debugging large, complex SQL scripts
  • Demonstrated understanding of data engineering processes (ETL/ELT), data modeling (OLTP/OLAP), and data warehousing concepts.
