Description POSITION: Bicycle Mechanic/Tour Guide DEPARTMENT: Activities PLACE OF WORK: Various Recreation Facilities REPORTS TO: Activities Manager JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for tuning and maintaining bike fleet; and maintaining the Pavilion building; assist in transporting bikes to different locations on property; and lead bike tours. Communicate with all homeowners, guests, and fellow team members in a professional manner. STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. QUALIFICATIONS: Essential: · Repair, check, and maintain bike fleet in accordance with Skytop standards · Prepare bikes on time for tours and other deadlines · Maintain updated log of all work performed on bikes · Maintain updated inventory of parts and equipment · Assist with related material, i.e., bicycle accessories and tools, and manage inventory as needed · Keep work area(s) clean and orderly · Provide feedback about bicycles to Activities Manager and team · Rent bicycles to guests and homeowners · Lead bicycle tours with guests and homeowners · Be customer service oriented and personable · Able to lift 30 or more pounds · Able to work alone and as part of a team · Appreciate and respect nature and its surroundings · Good organizational skills · Ability to communicate well with homeowners, guests and team members · Ability to prioritize, problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment · Valid driver’s license · Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends and holiday week/ends Desirable: · Prior guest relations training · Hospitality experience · Knowledge about fitness and recreation activities/programs ESSENTIAL SKILLS: · 1 year of bike shop experience · Assembling/disassembling, wheel building, changing brakes, brake levers, and shifter levers · Changing all kinds of cables · Cleaning bikes · Chain check, replacement · Communicate in English with homeowners/guests/team members to their understanding · Provide legible communication and directions · Work cohesively with coworkers as part of a team · Perform assignments with minimal supervision · Ensure security of resort property · Maintain confidentiality of homeowner/guest information and pertinent resort data WORKING CONDITIONS: Many tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, and windy weather. Temperature can be extreme. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands; bend and stoop; remain at post standing for extended periods of time; may be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
