About the role
To lead, manage and co-ordinate all aspects of a bid ensuring that high quality, competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the Balfour Beatty Management System. To establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with customers, partners and bid team.
What you’ll be doing
Formulate and agree bid strategy with senior management to secure profitable orders (to achieve bid targets as required by the business)
Form relationships with the customer or their representatives to develop clear understanding of their requirements
Responsible for the establishment, management and maintenance of the approved bid budget
Oversee and lead the preparation, coordination and delivery of presentations to customers as required, to successfully secure orders
Attendance at key customer meetings and industry events (e.g. bidder open days)
Oversee the establishment, production and implementation of bid management processes.
Innovation within bids across the business stream cost take-off and other estimating activities such as 5D cost planning

Who we’re looking for
Previous experience of managing bid services within the construction and engineering industry is highly desirable.
Specialist experience may be required in some business streams, e.g. PFI/PPP, Ground
Engineering.
Some Understanding of the principles of framework procurement and experience within the most current forms of procurement is required.
Membership of a relevant professional body, such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/MICE/MIStructE is desirable,
A valid CSCS card is required.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure.
Customer centric in approach, with the ability to recognise potential opportunities in invitations to tender.
A desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the relevant business.
Good IT, maths and bid writing ability is a requirement.
Working knowledge of best practice solutions and optimisation of innovative ideas and an understanding of the principles of Lean Construction and 5D cost planning is desirable
An understanding of BIM and how to read and assemble BIM models and produce appropriate reports from them is desirable
