Description:
SWL Security Services is seeking dynamic and dedicated individuals to form Farnham BID’s new Street Ranger team. The BID Street Ranger plays a pivotal role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for visitors to Farnham town centre. This highly visible role involves patrolling the BID area, engaging with businesses, market traders, and visitors to foster a sense of community and enhance the town’s overall well-being.
As a BID Street Ranger, you will act as an approachable and recognisable presence in the town centre, patrolling in all weathers to deter offences such as shoplifting and anti-social behaviour. You will build strong relationships with local businesses, managing low-level crime on their behalf, and serving as a key point of contact for crime reduction initiatives and broader community matters.
Rangers will work closely with local enforcement teams, PCSOs, police, security staff, and support agencies for vulnerable individuals. By providing pastoral support to those in need and signposting them to appropriate services, you will play a vital role in fostering a caring and inclusive community.
Utilising cutting-edge technology, including body cameras and crime reporting platforms, you will contribute to safeguarding the community and supporting the successful prosecution of repeat offenders. Additionally, Rangers will assist with marketing and promotional activities to advance Farnham BID’s objectives. As the BID develops, the role will include overseeing and coordinating the Ambassadors programme, empowering volunteers to welcome visitors and promote Farnham’s unique identity.

The role requires the ideal candidate to work to the roster pattern below, with some flexibility to support BID events, the night-time economy, and responding to crime intelligence or levy payer feedback. Other Requirements:
- Five-year checkable employment / education history for vetting purposes.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Basic computer skills.
- Good customer service skills and a professional attitude to work.
- Motivated, adaptable, and hardworking.
- Skilled in building relationships and supporting team development with tact and diplomacy.
- Previous law enforcement experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Farnham town centre and its businesses
