Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking a highly organised and commercially focused Bid Writer to join our growing Water Services team in New Zealand.   This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality tenders, bids, expressions of interest, and strategic submissions across a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure and services projects.   Working closely with operational leaders, engineering teams, business development, and key stakeholders, you will help position the business for success by developing compelling, compliant, and commercially sound submissions aligned with our growth strategy.   The Opportunity Reporting to the General Manager -Water NZ, the Bid Writer will support the preparation and coordination of tender submissions while contributing to continuous improvement across bidding, governance, and market engagement processes.   You will work collaboratively across the business to gather technical information, develop submission content, manage bid documentation, and support opportunity planning activities within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.   Key Responsibilities * Prepare high-quality tenders, bids, EOIs, and market sounding responses in line with business strategy and governance requirements  * Develop clear, concise, and compelling written submissions tailored to client requirements  * Coordinate and collaborate with operational teams, engineering, commercial, and functional support teams throughout the bid process  * Review contract documentation, technical specifications, and drawings to support bid development  * Assist with tender planning, bid governance, and opportunity management activities  * Conduct site visits and gather project information to support submission accuracy and quality  * Support the maintenance and management of market intelligence and CRM information  * Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers  * Assist with post-tender activities, negotiations, and project handover documentation where required    About You To be successful in this role, you will bring strong written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a deadline-driven environment.   You will also demonstrate: * Previous experience in bid writing, submissions, tender coordination, or proposals within infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering, or related industries  * Strong written communication and document management capability  * The ability to interpret technical and commercial information and translate it into compelling client-focused content  * Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills  * Strong organisational and time management capability with the ability to work across multiple concurrent bids  * Commercial awareness and understanding of tendering processes and governance frameworks  * A collaborative and proactive approach with strong attention to detail  * Experience working within complex operational or project-based environments will be highly regarded  * A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement    Why Downer?
