Title: Bike Technician/Sales Department: Village Rentals Status: Full Time or Part Time Summer Seasonal (FTS & PTS), Hourly FLSA: Non-Exempt Updated: February 2025 Department Summary:  Village Rentals operates as a full-service Mountain Bike Rental & Retail Operation in the vibrant Village at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Offering premier downhill trails spanning over 25 miles and 2,353 vertical feet, Village Rentals caters to biking enthusiasts seeking top-notch equipment and service. Open seven days a week during summer operations (late May-September), the shop is committed to providing exceptional guest experiences. Job Summary:  The Bike Technician/Sales position requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Responsibilities include outfitting guests with rental equipment, assisting in store operations, and delivering outstanding guest service. Training is mandatory for first-year employees and highly recommended for returning staff members. Job Relationships * Reports to: Manager/Supervisor * Employees Supervised: None Job Specifications * High school graduate or GED equivalent; college degree or courses in related fields preferred * Basic computer skills * Previous cashier/sales experience preferred * Previous experience working directly with the public preferred * Knowledge of the bike industry required Specific Duties * Learn and implement proper operating procedures including inventory controls, discounts, RTP POS operation, end-of-day procedures, and daily open/close procedures * Follow all policies and procedures as set out in rental operation training * Use RTP/Aspenware rental module for checking in/out equipment * Ensure proper bike and helmet sizing * Complete post-accident reports * Perform basic bike repairs for rentals and walk-in guests * Adhere to rental return process * Maintain a clean and organized work environment * Ensures that all signatures are captured at DIN station * Ensure all equipment is accounted for at the end of the day, and returns are properly noted and filed * Advocate for excellent guest service * Stay current on industry products and trends; demonstrate product knowledge * Work independently with little supervision * Assist in other activities within WSI to develop teamwork with other departments and associates * Provide feedback on buying trends and reorder needs * Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and possibly some evenings Work Environment * Moderate physical activity required, handling objects up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally * Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods up to 8 hours * Light to moderate physical activity, including bending, stooping, lifting, etc. on a routine basis * Will be working outside in inclement conditions * Washing and safety checking bikes daily * Ability to work at a computer workstation for periods of 1-2 hours * Working holidays, nights, and weekends is an accepted part of the job * Non-smoking environment * Subject to WSI’s Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse Policy based on the nature of the position and related duties Safety & Wellness All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors.
