The Bilingual Clinical Psychotherapist will function as a part of the multidisciplinary team working to implement evidenced-based therapeutic models from a trauma-informed, sociocultural perspective. The population includes youth ages 5+ enrolled in either regular foster care or treatment family foster care and have been exposed to and negatively impacted by traumatic events. There is also an opportunity to do a small percentage of Telemental health.

Qualifications:
Language: Bilingual English/Spanish Required

EDUCATION/LICENSE:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or related subject area.
At minimum must hold a provisional license (LP-MHC, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAT and/or LCSW) or must obtain limited permit or license within one month of employment.
All provisionally licensed clinicians are expected to participate in clinical license supervision.

Other Requirements:

  • Experience treating children and adolescents in a child welfare setting with history of abuse and neglect.
  • Experience with common clinical problems including general knowledge of DSM-5 diagnoses (e.g., child abuse and neglect, aggression, family conflict, depression, anxiety, drug use, traumatic events, truancy) and preferred knowledge of EBMs (CBT, trauma). Ability to take a systems perspective when working with youth.
  • Preferred strong understanding and the ability to implement the following: risk and safety assessment, safety planning, trauma assessment, crisis management, incident reporting, treatment planning, and HIPAA policies
  • An understanding and commitment to complying with the New York State Central Register of Abuse and Neglect protocol (requiring staff to comply with requirements to report any suspected abuse, maltreatment or neglect)
  • Experience with and willingness to work with culturally diverse population. Preferred experience working with the foster care system.
  • Effective verbal and written skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and a need for flexibility.
  • General computer literacy; including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email
