Job Details Job Location: OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73109 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 2 Year Degree Job Shift: Day Title: Bilingual Community Health Promoter (Promotor(a) de Salud) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Health & Wellness Program Position Summary: The Bilingual Community Health Promoter is responsible for supporting the Safe Pregnancies/Embarazo Seguro program. In this role, Promoters will facilitate charlas (small educational sessions) and serve as advocates for their communities, connecting clients with health resources and addressing issues related to food insecurity. Position Requirements: Recruit participants for this program and other LCDA health initiatives through various community outreach strategies Provide education to individuals and communities about the benefits of a healthy pregnancy, preconception planning, and strategies to reduce risks to both the pregnant individual and the infant Provide transportation services for one-on-one appointments related to pre-conception, conception, prenatal, postpartum care, and childcare access Promote informed decision-making by offering support networks and resources related to child wellness for Safe Pregnancy clients Lead group health and wellness classes focusing on nutrition, obesity prevention, and diabetes management Organize educational activities, supermarket visits, and SNAP enrollment in collaboration with community partners such as churches, schools, and local neighborhoods Connect participants with local resources, including physical education classes, walking groups, community gardens, mobile markets, farmers' markets, and food banks Actively participate in health-related events within the Hispanic community, such as health fairs, group presentations, and church activities Assist participants in enrolling in SoonerCare, DHS Medicaid, or the Health Marketplace Provide outreach and education on immunizations and organize clinics with a focus on vaccine importance Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor Competency Statements: Recruit and engage participants through diverse outreach methods. Provide culturally relevant education on pregnancy, nutrition, and wellness. Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms to/with English and Spanish speaking individuals. Listen to others and communicate in an effective manner. Connect clients with local healthcare and wellness resources. Lead informative and engaging group sessions. Partner with community organizations to expand outreach. Provide transportation and logistical support for client health appointments. Supervisory Responsibility: This role has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, and potentially weekends. Work hours and shifts may vary based on business needs. Employees must be available to be on-call as needed, including evenings, Saturdays, or Sundays. Required Minimum Job Qualifications, Experience, and Education: Education: Associate’s degree in a health-related field or other relevant education Experience: Strong experience working in a healthcare setting and/or knowledge of health and nutrition. Skills: Fluency in both English and Spanish is required. Proficient in Microsoft Word and possesses intermediate general computer skills.
