I. CHILD EDUCATION, CURRICULUM AND CLASSROOM

A. Work directly with children individually, in small and large groups.
· Provide for their safety, guidance and age-appropriate educational development;
· Plan and conduct educational program that best characterizes developmentally appropriate practice in the Early Childhood Education field;
· Individualize children’s education program;
· Use the assessment information to individualize the curriculum to build on each child’s prior knowledge and experiences and to provide curriculum experience that support learning and development;
· Collaborate with the team and support the development, implementation and monitoring child’s learning practices in the Early Childhood field;
· Develop strong partnerships with parents in regard to their child’s education;
· Complete and submit any written evaluation or reports within required deadlines;
· Take accurate, objective and complete observations on assigned children;
· Conduct and document any home visits/parent meeting/parenting class, which are designed to strengthen parent engagement.
· Support children with special needs or those requiring additional support in their learning journey.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE

LISTO Lead Teacher will provide educational expertise, guidance and training to LISTO Early Child Team and mentors and guides other teachers and assistants. This position develops strong nurturing relationships with children and families and provides them with a learning environment that is both culturally and developmentally appropriate with meaningful preparation for successful transition into kindergarten. The Lead Teacher develops quality partnerships with parents and encourages parent engagement in their child’s learning. The Lead Teacher is committed to improving her own competence through ongoing academic and practical training. This position is responsible for meeting LISTO Program performance standards and following the agency policies and procedures.
