Le poste
Le titulaire relèvera d’un gestionnaire de service et travaillera à partir de la succursale de Barrie. Les principales tâches sont les suivantes : améliorer les résultats scolaires des enfants et des jeunes pris en charge, ceux placés auprès d’un proche dans le cadre d’arrangements et ceux qui sont visés par des ententes de service volontaire pour les jeunes; coordonner les mesures de soutien à l’éducation et fournir un soutien à la navigation du système adapté à la culture aux enfants et aux jeunes admissibles; résoudre les problèmes qui ont une incidence sur l’apprentissage des enfants et des jeunes admissibles, et renforcer les relations entre les sociétés, les écoles, les conseils scolaires publics, les autorités scolaires des Premières Nations et les partenaires communautaires afin d’améliorer les résultats scolaires des enfants et des jeunes admissibles et de tenir des dossiers exacts et complets des activités. Il s’agit d’un poste de l’unité de négociation de la section locale 5319 du Syndicat canadien de la fonction publique (SCFP).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education is preferred. A degree in Social Science from an accredited University, in combination with several years’ experience in Child Welfare or from within the Education system will also be considered.
  • Effectively respond to the educational needs of children and youth. This includes knowledge of Ontario’s education system and connections in the education sector.
  • Ability to be reflective of, and responsive to, the needs of eligible children and youth and to apply critical thinking and analysis to factors relating to the Liaison position.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal and external community partners, and with Ministry resources.
  • Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • A thorough understanding of anti-oppression values and principles is important.
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required, proficiency will be tested.
