Description

The Bilingual Paralegal is responsible for supporting regulatory, legal, compliance matters by researching, communicating requirements, and obtaining approvals.

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS required

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in legal and in automotive finance or similar experience is preferred
  • Legal related work experience in a corporate environment as an asset

EDUCATION

  • Paralegal or legal related education or equivalent
    REPORTING TO: Chief Compliance Officer
Responsibilities
  • Manage small claims court files
  • Draft claims, defenses and motions
  • Conduct legal research as required
  • Commission and notarize documents as needed
  • Liaise with extra provincial attorneys for service
  • Manage filing all annual returns and business licenses for all business entities
  • Research regulations by reviewing regulatory bulletins and other sources of information
  • Keep other departments abreast of requirements by researching regulatory and filing information; writing and communicating guidelines
  • Support the administration specific to the trademark/IP patents portfolio, respond (route) queries from IP office/lawyers, reviewing/obtaining approval for legal maintenance invoices
  • Follow up re IP patent work with internal management
  • Monitor our active/inactive inventory of trademarks/IP patents
  • Participate in cross functional project teams to identify, develop and implement new initiatives
  • Process and obtain approvals for revising forms, agreements, policies and standards
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information
  • Maintains rapport with external regulatory personnel by arranging continuing contacts and resolving concerns
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Handle legal administration as well as prepare legal letters as required
  • Assists Chief Compliance Officer with litigation matters, reviewing of agreements and presentation decks etc.
