Description Work Days: Monday thru FridayWork Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.Work Location: 1115 Mission Rd, San Antonio, TX 78210 Mission: Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children. Summary: The Parenting Specialist will provide services and administrative tasks assigned to the Lead Parenting Specialist. The Parenting Specialist will maintain a caseload of 12 to 24 Seton Home clients to include parenting education in group, small group, and individual settings. The Parenting Specialist will train and collaborate with direct care staff on a regular basis so that all education will be reinforced in daily interactions with the clients, and will be asked to provide new hire trainings as needed. The Parenting Specialist will document parenting services in a timely manner and reflect appropriate interventions to the clients. The Parenting Specialist serves as a part of the interdisciplinary team that develops and supports the families. Position Responsibilities: *Maintain a caseload of individual sessions and/or group classes; *Substitute for Lead Parent Coordinator as necessary in facilitating parenting groups, individual sessions, and/or developmental screenings; *Deliver client services and all daily interactions within the Sanctuary Model framework. *Create, measure, and update parenting goals and objectives for assigned residents’ Plans of Service, transfer, and discharge summaries; *Maintain continuous communication with appropriate Seton Home staff to discuss resident’s progress in the parenting program; *Conduct parenting related staff development trainings with staff members; Assists with maintaining accurate reports of program performance; Serve as point staff person to collect, enter, and communicate program performance to include AAPI-2 scores, ASQ-3, class attendance and other performance measures in internal database as required on time. Schedule guest speakers to conduct presentations on pertinent parenting topics; Coordinate with other agencies, schools, and/or hospitals to provide programs, training, and/or services for the residents related to pregnancy or parenting; Inform residential and daycare staff of current infant/child safety recalls monthly; As a Seton Home employee, attendance and successful completion of a 10-day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency. Other duties as assigned by Director or Vice President. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Education Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred; Experience Preferred 2 years’ experience teaching parenting skills to adolescent mothers preferred; Minimum of 1-year employment experience teaching parenting skills to adolescent mothers preferred; License and Credentials Reliable transportation; Valid driver license; Valid vehicle insurance; Submit to a state and federal background check, Child abuse and neglect registry check, and Tuberculosis screening; Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children; Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection. MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases DTaP or Tdap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one TdaP dose in adulthood. Influenza: one dose annually during flu season. Minimum Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of TDFPS Minimum Standards, and Office of Refugee Resettlement- Division of Unaccompanied Children's Services National Care Standards; Possess therapeutic sensitivity to the service population cultural and socio-economic characteristics. Experience with computer software and MS Office (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive); Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team; Must have good written and verbal skills; Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills; *Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the spoken language Travel Requirements: Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 10% overnight.
