OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in payroll calculations, and maintaining employee records. This role requires proficiency in various payroll and accounting software, as well as a strong understanding of financial concepts and practices. The Payroll Clerk will play a crucial role in supporting our organization’s financial operations and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, Kronos, Ceridian, or similar systems is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, general ledger reconciliation, and technical accounting principles.
  • Experience with governmental accounting or non-profit accounting is a plus.
  • Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail; familiarity with 10 key typing is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess payroll data and identify discrepancies or trends.
  • Knowledge of human resources functions related to payroll management is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently within deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time using systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, or similar payroll software.
  • Maintain employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
  • Perform data entry tasks to ensure accurate payroll processing and record keeping.
  • Assist with benefits administration and ensure proper deductions are made from employee paychecks.
  • Conduct account reconciliation for payroll accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and maintain general ledger accounting.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies regarding payroll practices.
  • Provide support for accounts payable and receivable as needed, including tax experience related to payroll processing.
  • Utilize analysis skills to generate reports on payroll metrics and assist in audits as required.
