  Posting 26-23 Bilingual Senior Communications Officer, Communications Unit, Corporate Services Department   Permanent position, Category 5 - Hiring range $101,756- $116,432 Existing vacancy – One position  Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Media, the Bilingual Senior Communications Officer provides strategic leadership and communications insight for their assigned portfolios and projects. They draft, review and edit communications materials for all areas of the College. French language proficiency testing may be administered in the recruitment process. Responsibilities   Content Creation and Publishing Portfolio management Work with internal clients on assigned portfolios and projects. * Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with internal clients.  * Be aware of how different projects may be connected and provide other team members / units with advance notice on incoming projects. * Respond to, or proactively reach out to, media and education interest holders or partners as required.  * Maintain brand consistency that supports the College’s mandate, the Strategic Plan and its enablers. Project planning and management * Create and implement strategic communications plans to support the College’s work. * Deliver projects on time and on budget; if delays occur, alert relevant parties as soon as possible. Research, writing, review and editing * Research, write and edit copy in plain language for various traditional and digital channels, including key messages, talking points, speaking notes, speeches, professional advisories, white papers, scripts, website and intranet, newsletters, social media, advertisements, member mailings, and promotional materials. * Incorporate College style guides in all work to provide brand consistency. Strategic thought and insight * Provide strategic communications support in all work, to protect or positively enhance the College’s reputation.  * Identify and monitor potential reputational or operational risks to the College.  * Respond to issues and crises in a timely manner, when needed * Advise and support senior College leadership and official spokespersons. Other duties * Other duties as assigned by the Director or Manager. Qualifications, Skills and Experience * A university degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or equivalent experience. * A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in the planning, development and implementation of communication strategies, plans and tactics related to all aspects of corporate communications. * Experience with developing communications strategies and project plans. * Communication with tact, diplomacy and political acuity.  * Project management skills and experience, including the successful delivery of projects and applying the project management principles, such as Agile or PMP.  * Writing and editing skills to plan, research and develop compelling content for a wide variety of purposes targeted to various audiences, including members of the profession, Council members, colleagues, education sector stakeholders, members of the public, and the media. * Knowledge and demonstrated ability in media relations, issues management, internal and external engagement. * Experience advising and interacting with senior and mid-level leaders. * Ability to interpret and distill complex information. * Ability to coach and provide constructive feedback to junior staff, where applicable and appropriate, to help with skills development and achieving unit goals. * Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and videoconferencing (that is, Zoom, MS Teams). * Knowledge and understanding of the education sector, and the mandate, related legislation, regulations and bylaws of the Ontario College of Teachers is an asset. * Bilingualism in French and English is required.  Working Conditions / Other Considerations * May require working with sensitive material related to student safety and well-being.
