Job Description Position Summary: The Billing Manager oversees all aspects of the billing cycle, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant client invoicing to maximize cash flow and minimize write-offs. Key responsibilities include managing prebills, finalizing invoices, handling complex e-billing (e.g., LEDES, TyMetrix, etc.), training staff and collaborating with attorneys to resolve discrepancies and client billing inquiries. Essential Job Functions: Billing Operations: Manage the entire monthly billing cycle, from generating prebills (draft invoices) to producing and distributing final invoices. E-billing Compliance: Utilize e-billing portals (e.g., Legal Tracker, CounselLink, etc.) to submit invoices, resolving rejections and adhering to client-specific electronic billing guidelines. Attorney Support & Collaboration: Act as a liaison with partners and staff to review time entries, edit invoices, and manage complex billing arrangements. Financial Accuracy: Ensure adherence to attorney/client guidelines, fee agreements, and ethical standards, reducing errors and improper write-offs. Reporting & Collections: Run accounts receivable aging reports, identify delinquent accounts, and collaborate with billing specialists to follow up on payments. Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor billing specialists, setting performance standards and managing workflow. Qualifications Education, Skills and Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree required, accounting degree preferred. Experience: 3–5+ years of legal billing experience Prior supervisory experience required. Software Proficiency: Experience with legal financial systems, experience with Perfect Law preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with attorneys, staff, and client accounting departments. Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills to manage high-volume, complex invoicing. Firm and Client Confidentiality required.
