JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Billing and Operations Support Assistant, you work together with a team to provide prompt, courteous service, medical billing & coding and insurance compliance and verification, reporting, support/backup to other team members amongst other tasks as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:

· 1-3 years’ experience with medical billing is preferred
· Basic medical terminology, familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 codes along with a general knowledge of HIPAA is strongly preferred
· General knowledge of medical insurance

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

· Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
· Strong Communication skills both written & oral
· Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast paced environment
· Requires a strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

· Obtain and update patient demographic and insurance information (face sheets) when appropriate.
· Verifier insurance for all patients using our EMR system and/or insurance portals.
· Obtain, follow-up and facilitate the acquisition and approval of insurance prior-authorizations, based on insurance guidelines (medical necessity, etc.), in a timely manner.
· Obtain facility payee agreements when appropriate according to insurance guidelines.
· Review LCD guidelines and assist with monthly internal audits to ensure billing compliance.
· Accept responsible party payments and answer limited billing questions from incoming patient/facility inquiries.
· Obtain timely signed order requisitions from Providers for all ordered exams.
· Assist with monthly reports.
· Support/back-up billing & coding, posting and reporting of claims.
· Support/back-up facility invoicing and AR reporting.
· Collaborate with Care-Coordination and assist with answering phones.
· Assist in other departmental activities as needed.
· Assist Account Management by performing follow-up calls/texts to patients after their consultations.
· Support/back-up the Enrollment Coordinator regarding census management.
· Collaborate with Care-Coordination and assist with answering phones.
· Assist with taking call shifts on weekends, working from home.
