Billing Specialist Requirements: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school graduation/General Education Degree (GED) required. Minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare related field. Minimum of one year of medical billing and appeals experience required. Understanding of CMS1500 forms and electronic billing Experience working on outstanding accounts receivable from aging reports. Prior Experience working with CalOptima insurance is a plus. Possess time management and organization skills. Ability to apply problem-solving techniques to assigned duties. Advanced computer skills in business applications; High proficiency in Microsoft suite of products. Possess strong written and verbal skills with diverse populations; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must present a professional appearance and promote a positive work environment. Essential Functions: Complies with all company policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of client, associate, and company operations. Processes and submits clean claims to our contracted insurance payers including managed Medicare and Medicaid payers. Responsible for payment posting with accuracy and attention to detail. Management of account receivable collections through targeted appeals and disputes when needed. Conducts periodic audits and eligibility checks to ensure the services we are providing will be properly covered by the payers. Ability to communicate audit results clearly to team members to effect change. Billing Specialist will work closely with our internal teams for schedule coordination to adhere to authorization limitations. 9. Performs other duties as requested.
