Description Billing Specialist Location: Akron, OH – Hybrid/On-site Employment Type: Full-time About the Role Red Oak is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will ensure providers are properly enrolled with multiple payers, process commercial claims, and support timely billing for services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong medical billing skills who enjoys problem-solving and helping a mission-driven organization succeed. Key Responsibilities Manage provider credentialing, enrollment, and updates to prevent billing delays Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for clients Post daily insurance payments, ERAs (835), EOBs, and EOPs; manage denials and resubmissions Prepare, compile, and transmit claims weekly, including CMS submissions Maintain accurate client insurance records and upload documentation into systems (e.g., eBridge) Research unpaid claims, resolve errors, and support A/R projects Assist clients with our online Payment Hub and troubleshoot payment issues on portals (e.g., Ohio MITS) Provide cross-department support and complete other administrative duties as assigned Qualifications Associate degree (Medical Billing/Coding or A/R focus) or equivalent experience 3–5 years of medical billing experience (commercial, Medicaid, Medicare) Proficiency with billing software, ERAs, EOBs, and claim management tools Strong math skills, accuracy, and attention to detail Collaborative, service-oriented mindset What We Offer Competitive pay, commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401(k) match, PTO) Opportunities for training and career growth Supportive team culture and meaningful work that impacts our community Physical & Work Environment Primarily office-based with standard equipment (computer, phone, copier) Occasional travel to nearby sites; ability to lift up to 20 lbs Reasonable accommodations available for qualified individuals Red Oak is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
