Role description: You will join our Structural Engineering team in the Arcadis Iasi or Bucharest office, part of the Mobility GBA, where our projects and development opportunities can fit various ambitions from structural engineering, 3D modeling and parametric design to Operate & Maintain digital methods. The delivery is secured through global collaboration platforms like ACC, which allows engineers across various offices to work together seamlessly while maintaining clear visibility for our clients. Role accountabilities: Your role will include, but is not limited to: Communicate regularly with the BIM Manager, providing project status reports and coordinating clash detection and resolution activities Apply engineering knowledge, experience, and understanding to deliver technical and practical engineering coordination in a BIM environment, typically for larger, more complex commissions Review and ensure compliance with the components of the project for which you are responsible, including drawings and BIM model requirements Contribute directly to the creation and delivery of project outputs, including models, drawings, and other BIM‑related deliverables Develop, maintain, and update 3D BIM models for Civil Structures, ensuring all submissions meet project requirements and applicable standards Produce accurate 2D drawings derived from BIM models, ensuring full compliance with Arcadis and/or Client Drafting Standards and Procedures, and delivering all drawings according to the agreed submission schedule Support the project team with technical guidance, offering expertise in BIM modelling, coordination, and design processes to ensure high‑quality, integrated project outputs Act as the technical hub in the BIM process. Have experience with BIM processes and be capable of sharing and coordinating across a variety of disciplines within the BIM environment Participate in the Civil Structures Design coordination meetings with engineers and designers Build and maintain effective relationships with partners on projects Liaise with the Line Manager to stay informed of all developments associated with the project Maintain a good understanding of the background of the Arcadis business areas to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry Provide direction to the project team, leading by example to achieve goals and championing a quality, innovative, client-focused culture; delegate tasks to the modellers, ensuring workload distribution across disciplines and assisting with modelling when needed Support the production of project BIM deliverables, including models that are accurate, clear and concise, compliant with Arcadis standards, best practice, and any other standards dictated by the nature of the project Understand the coordination of multiple elements of a project and how they ultimately interface with the client Define all the Civil Structures Design issues and prepare and distribute the issues accordingly. Follow up with the project team on Civil Structures Design and BIM model updates Handle projects under BIM Level 2, with a sound understanding of BIM workflows Control, monitor, and steer the BIM process with the necessary tools Design and assess all structural elements of road infrastructure, such as Major Bridges, Minor Bridges, Culverts, and Heritage Structures Review drawings and models through Navisworks and BIM Collaboration platforms (such as ACC and/or Project Wise) Create federated models for BIM coordination and ensure the latest model is up-to-date in the common data environment Coordinate with BIM Staff for the development of models, drawings, and schedules of the design Oversee workflow coordination and ensure compliance with company/project standards, including the BIM Execution Plan Perform data validation, model health checks, and manage the setup and efficiency of new BIM model projects Provide advanced BIM training and ensure the project team adheres to BIM standards, execution plans, and ISO 19650 Coach and guide involved employees in the implementation and application of BIM Guide a project team through the BIM process and provide ad hoc assistance to the wider practice when required Share knowledge with others and foster a team-working spirit. Qualifications & Experience: Relevant Structural engineering degree Demonstrate an analytical mindset and a proactive attitude toward self-directed learning and professional development Relevant experience in Concrete & Steel Design, Concrete Reinforcement, and Architectural BIM Models related to civil projects Experienced in creating detailed plans and bills of quantities for reinforced concrete, as well as for reinforced and prestressed structures, steel structures, and/or composite structures, demonstrating competence in this area. Experienced and competent in projects developed in the BIM environment Ability to create custom families and templates to enhance BIM workflows Understanding of construction phasing and sequencing for complex projects Ability and interest in learning and developing new technologies and automation processes Have advanced proficiency with relevant desktop applications and their application to support engineering tasks Analytical mindset and self-learning attitude Have a track record in designing specialised structural elements such as bridge decks, abutments, piles, or retaining walls Proficient in detailing software for reinforced concrete Ability to guide and check the work of other team members Have substantial relevant (production) experience in design, drafting or engineering and BIM Excellent time management skills consistently demonstrated through performance on projects Display exceptional command of technical English terminology and communication skills. Nice to have: Familiarity with parametric design and scripting languages, such as Dynamo or Grasshopper Experience with laser scanning and point cloud data integration into BIM models Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices, including ISO 19650 Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information System) and its integration with BIM for geospatial analysis Netherlands marked experience Multilingual proficiency in languages like Dutch and German Key attributes: Professional approach to time, costs and quality.
