Overview Bin Tender Needed!! Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC is seeking a Bin Tender to join our production team based in Scotia, CA. This is an hourly non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $26.65 and includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K match and company paid life insurance. Responsibilities The Bin Tender is responsible for operating a bin sorter and helps keep lumber straight, clear lumber jams and drop units/loads to the stacker in a safe and productive manner. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Monitor bins in the sorter and keep lumber straight in the bins Clear jams in the sorter by proficiently using a chain saw Communicate safe lockout procedures to the trimmer operator Empty full units onto bottom chains and direct units to end stacker Inspect sorter each day for broken or bent tipple arms, broken pusher lugs, air valves shut off, and tipples locked in up position Keep area clean Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED); One-year related sawmill / planer experience and/or training. Employee must be able to read and interpret documents such as instructions, memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, peripheral and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
