JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for aiding in the production of materials in the bindery area by packing, labeling and finishing product at the binding stage, helping load machine pockets, keeping bindery machines running by off loading product and helping out on other bindery equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, job tickets and procedures manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively and respond to questions and instructions
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form
  • Basic understanding of addition and subtraction

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Mandatory hearing protection while in the plant
  • Safety shoes are required are required on the production floor
  • Moderate chemical exposure consisting of cleaning products and possible exposure to ink jet ink and wash, which is a hazardous substance. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and chemical protective gloves are required when using ink jet products.
  • Majority of this job requires standing for approximately 90% of the day
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to a maximum of 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Inside temperature ranges are on the warm side all year long.
  • Dust exposure in the Bailer Room

Responsibilities

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Load pockets with materials and verify accuracy of materials being loaded
  • Packing printed pieces in boxes, telebox and skids
  • Evaluation quality of product being produced and report any defects to machine operator or supervisor for resolution
  • Inspection of materials and printed pieces at delivery end of bindery equipment
  • Hand collating and other manual tasks
  • Understand USPS mailing regulations
  • Assist in cutting, folding, collating, stitching and binding of jobs
  • Operate miscellaneous equipment such as shrinkwrapper, drills, etc.
  • Complete production records and timesheets
  • Keep work area neat and orderly
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Able to perform at designated production rates
  • Follow all required Safety Procedures such as: PPE’s Ergonomics, Chemical Hazards, etc.
  • Perform job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees
  • Prompt and regular attendance
