Description COMPANY SUMMARY: Johnson & Quin specializes in producing large volume direct mail and integrated communication campaigns for well-known marketing companies throughout the U.S. Our teams use the latest technology in data processing, security, personalization and mailing to create highly personalized and variable communications. POSITION FUNCTION: Responsible for timely and efficient set-up and operation of the following types of equipment: roll to sheet continuous folding, cut sheet folding, card affixing with camera matching, card affixing with read and print capabilities, & programable guillotine cutting. SCHEDULE: Sunday - Thursday, 10 pm - 6 am ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Read job ticket to understand how the folder/affixer/cutter will need to be set up. Interprets the required finished measurements for each piece, card, placement, folds to be made and print placement. Reviews job tickets daily for any changes that have been made to the job and determines necessary adjustments. Manually adjusts blades for proper trimming established from the job ticket. Ensure the proper trim layout is provided in the job ticket. Measures the layout and converts dimensions to program the guillotine cutter. Programs the channels of the guillotine cutter to store the proper settings to execute the job. Prior to starting the job, verify the final piece size and place letter in the outer envelope to assure the correct window positioning of the address block and bar code. After reviewing the job ticket, organizes personalized cards and carriers, determining sequence flow. Sets up the card feeding, gluing, cameras (if appropriate on match jobs), and folder attachments per job specifications. Verifies placement of card on carrier and that the fold will pass the tap test for mailing. From information on the job ticket, prepares tray markers to indicate the components within the tray and sets up a missing numbers list. Run samples of the job and make adjustments to equipment to assure the proper finished product as indicated by the job ticket and obtain supervisor approval before running full production. Operates folder/affixer/cutter throughout production constantly maintaining production standards and checking for consistent quality. Trays or palletizes finished product for streamlining to next department. Continuously assures that equipment is properly and safely maintained (i.e, guards are in place, greasing and lubing machine, alerting supervisor of any malfunctions, change blades, cleans flatbed, etc.) Completes time and production sheets in a timely and neat manner; enters correct information into the Monarch Shop Floor system as well as uses the time clocks. Completes other various duties as assigned by supervisor. Adheres to all Security Policies and Procedures as referenced in the Employee Security Handbook. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: 5 years of experience setting-up and operating roll-fed continuous folding equipment (MBO, Stahl, Cleveland, GBR) with Spedo or MBO sheeters. 5 years’ experience setting up and operating cutters (Lawson). 5 years setting up affixing equipment (Kirk-Rudy, MBO, Gavehren) with camera match systems (MCS, Keyence, Lake Image). Familiarity with reading and interpreting job tickets and working with sequence numbers. Strong mechanical abilities. Good written and verbal communications skills. Flexible to work different shifts and with different bindery equipment. Lifting ability up to 50 pounds. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Must be able to read handwritten and computerized documents. Must have manual dexterity. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Lift, push/pull up to 50 pounds and bend to load pallets or trays. Be able to stand or walk up to 8 hours daily. WORKING CONDITIONS: Manufacturing environment, onsite full-time attendance. Personal protective equipment required for noise levels in the department.
