Job Description We are seeking a Biocatalysis Scientist to support our client’s applied biocatalysis initiatives. In this role, you will design, run, and optimize enzymatic reactions for the preparation of chiral intermediates and scalable processes. You will work closely with subject matter experts, maintain high-quality documentation, communicate findings to project teams, and support ongoing laboratory operations. This role is ideal for a PhD‑level scientist with hands-on experience in enzyme catalysis, analytical chemistry, or related fields who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment. Key Responsibilities Execute and optimize biocatalytic reactions to support research and process development programs. Run enzymatic reactions, isolate products, and refine processes to enable scalability. Develop and perform enzyme activity assays, including high-throughput screening and enzyme immobilization. Conduct chiral analysis via UPLC and GC; characterize reaction products using NMR and MS. Analyze and interpret experimental data, maintaining accurate electronic laboratory notebooks. Prepare protocols, technical reports, and presentations summarizing experimental work. Perform routine instrument maintenance and support general lab operations. Collaborate closely with internal teams and subject matter experts to drive project goals. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications PhD in Chemistry, Biocatalysis, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to shifting priorities. Demonstrated initiative and a proactive, “can-do” mindset. Preferred Qualifications ≥2 years of laboratory experience with enzymatic reactions, enzyme kinetics, immobilization, protein engineering, photo-biocatalysis, fermentation, or enzyme assays. Working knowledge of HPLC, GC, KF, NMR, and MS. Experience with chromatographic techniques. Understanding of pharmaceutical development and cGMP principles.
