Description:

MINIMUM POSITION KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in positions with similar duties.
  • Broad knowledge of other disciplines such as environmental sciences, safety or industrial hygiene.
  • High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country and could obtain a work visa.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
  • Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Implement and maintain a comprehensive Bioenvironmental and Public Health Program. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct quarterly inspections of all common areas (e.g., dormitories, gymnasiums, etc.) IAW DAFI 48-117.
  • Conduct special surveys and investigations.
  • Establish an epidemiology program for communicable and occupational disease surveillance with reporting that complies with AFMAN 48-105.
  • Conduct epidemiological investigation of disease outbreaks involving personnel who reside in station facilities.
  • Responsible for secure packaging, storage, preparation, and service of food at downrange facilities.
  • Perform at least two monthly inspections each of the dining hall, employee lounges, snack bar, club, and other facilities that manufacture, prepare, store, serve, or sell food products and maintain documentation of inspections.
  • At least quarterly inspect all stored food for deterioration or loss of quality that would render the food unfit for human consumption and maintain all food inspection results on site.
  • Conduct recurring food-handler physical examinations sufficient to ensure absence of communicable disease as well as prior to return-to-duty status for those food-handlers absent from work due to illness.
  • Inspect all food items upon delivery to ensure wholesomeness and fitness-for-human consumption and shall dispose of subsistence not fit for shipment or consumption.
  • Be responsible for the proper refrigeration and packing of subsistence shipped downrange to ensure that preservation is maintained during transit by ensuring provide sufficient dry ice to meet required final destination temperatures of products and shall ensure proper receipt of any subsistence upon arrival.
  • Monitor potable water to ensure it meets Ascension Final Governing Standards (FGS) IAW AFMAN 32-1067 Water and Fuel Systems and DAFI 48-144, Drinking Water Surveillance Program.
  • Conduct chemical and radiological analyses of the potable water as specified in the Ascension FGS by an EPA or state-certified laboratory and provide analysis results to the COR and 45 MDG/SGPB.
  • Conduct area air monitoring during asbestos removal, shall post area and clearance air monitoring results at the abatement worksite, and shall conduct final clearance air monitoring after asbestos removal IAW National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Method 582 or equivalent.
