Description

from Oct 1st 2025 at the Department of Neuropathology at Heidelberg University Hospital.
The Division of Molecular Neuropathology is seeking an ambitious bioinformatics expert with focus on DNA and RNA sequencing data analysis.
As one of the largest neuro-oncology diagnostic institutions, we are centrally involved in clinical care for thousands of patients annually. We entertain a growing data collection, containing a wealth of data from multi-omics studies, histological imaging, and clinical research. This unparalleled resource provides the foundation for advancing diagnostics through data integration and workflow optimization.
As a key member of our interdisciplinary team - including physicians, biologists, and computer scientists - you will shape the future of data-driven diagnostics. Your primary responsibility will be to iteratively enhance and supervise our next-generation- and third-generation- (Oxford Nanopore) sequencing data pipelines. You will design, implement, and optimize an analysis and interpretation infrastructure tailored for high-throughput data, supporting both clinical reporting and research efforts.
Examples of our prior work in exploring novel methodologies for diagnostics include application of spatial sequencing (Ritter et al., Nat Cancer 2025) or intra-operative longread-sequencing (Patel et al., Nat Med 2025). In this environment with a variety of computational scientists, you can also interact with experts in other areas, including AI-based image analysis, proteomics, spatial and single cell-sequencing.
Together, we aim to continuously translate cutting-edge molecular technology into the care delivery process, creating workflows that surpass traditional single-shot profiling. Your contributions will help integrate data science into every step of oncology care.
