Description JOB PURPOSE The Biological Materials Specialist is a laboratory professional responsible for generating, testing, and optimizing bulk preparations of both antigen and antibody materials. This midstream manufacturing position collaborates heavily with upstream scientists and downstream production employees to ensure materials meet both quantity and quality demands. The role is best suited for an experienced technician/associate looking to expand their scope and operate with greater scientific independence and impact. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manufactures sub-assembly biological materials for immunoassay production Maintains accurate work records Conducts controlled testing of manufactured materials to determine suitability for use in a variety of immunoassays including, but not limited to: Immunodiffusion Complement Fixation Lateral Flow ELISA Latex Agglutination Performs basic characterization and/or troubleshooting experiments under supervision Gel Electrophoresis/Western Blot Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography (FPLC) Protein Quantification Accelerated Stability Studies Supports maintenance & organization of physical and virtual inventories Effectively communicates with others, is approachable, has a positive and flexible attitude, displays a strong work ethic, time management skills, and demonstrates the ability and desire for professional development Complies with all company policies, procedures, internal and external quality standards, and regulatory standards Any other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related field + 2-3 years of professional experience OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience Mastery of routine wet lab tasks: pipetting, buffer & sample preparations, and performing basic assays Experience with at least two of the techniques/assays mentioned above Excellent problem-solving, data analysis, and decision-making skills High attention to detail and scientific curiosity PREFERRED 4-5 years of professional experience working in a wet lab Experience/Knowledge in biomanufacturing or a controlled work environment Advanced immunoassay knowledge Equal Opportunity Employment: IMMY is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, and local laws.
