Summary:
Working independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrates mastery of skills and tasks with comprehensive knowledge level of most aspects of the job associated with; routine tasks including inspection, installation, repair, troubleshooting, maintaining, calibrating clinical and non-clinical patient equipment. Serves as a trainer and mentor to other staff members and performs in a leadership capacity on projects and other assignments. Learns on the job, teaches, and mentors others. Considered a subject matter expert on high acuity clinical devices and systems.
Responsibilities:
(35%)* Demonstrates mastery and works independently performing evaluation, coordination, and execution of corrective and preventive maintenance on high end and complex clinical systems and other duties as assigned including travel to other locations for support.
(35%)* Provides advanced support for departmental unit’s projects and complex devices and systems for direct patient care. Successfully solves organizational level and service line customer service issues and complaints. Presents and operationalizes process improvement ideas to Supervisor and leadership. Attends and participates in all departmental activities.
(30%)* Mentors less experienced technicians on administrative and technical duties of the job. Spends time independently to read and learn the various equipment and networking systems required to provide advanced support and guidance to clinicians and support departments as required of the job.

8+ years of related experience required.

Exhibits a detailed understanding and can communicate the use of devices supported
Can provide advanced technical support of complex medical equipment and systems for direct patient care.
Has advanced experience in their assigned clinical environment and has in-depth understanding of the operations they support, such as hospitals, clinics, ect.
Demonstrates mastery of clinical equipment service such as patient monitoring, anesthesia, video systems, laboratory, IT and networked medical systems so that work beyond single devices can be appropriately accomplished.
Can successfully solve organizational level customer service issues and complaints.
Possesses advanced understanding and skills in mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic systems, and devices.
Has advance knowledge and leadership with working experience in project management terms and methods
Has a high-level understanding and complies with all local and national safety regulations for JCAHO, Rural Health Compliance, HIPAA, and all others as necessary.
High Level analytical skills and comprehensive writing and communication skills are required.
Ability to efficiently perform and teach administrative duties of the job.
Shows initiative and willingness for continuing education, in services on new equipment along with equipment seminars, manufacturer schools, and performs teach-back to other technicians for expanded back-up support.
Ability to handle on-call as assigned.
High level understanding of the departmental Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and recording work in that system per department processes and policies.
Maintains a high-level business rapport with clinical customers and other support departments through participation on project teams, rounding, and communicating effectively as required.
Presents and operationalizes departmental improvements to Supervisor and leadership as appropriate.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level:Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
