QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Minimum BS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent work/military experience in Biomedical Engineering.
  • 5 + years of hands-on experience with medical equipment.
  • Advance knowledge of computer protocols and network infrastructure hardware.
  • Developed troubleshooting skills.
  • Knows MS-Office and other computer applications.
  • Understands medical terminology and computer terminology.
  • Flexible with schedule to work in the evenings and weekends.
  • Flexible with travel within the Health System.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of PHI standards
  • N+, CWNA, DICOM, MCSA or MCSE certification(s).
  • Technical knowledge of various manufacture equipment models.
  • Enterprise level networking experience.
  • Integration engines and carious protocols used.
  • Eligible for AAMI/ICC certification.
  • Project Management education and experience.
  • Leadership experience.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • 20% of the time: Design and maintain all biomedical equipment-based network infrastructures. Configure network hardware (i.e. access points, routers and switches) for interconnectivity and system integration. Use specialized network management software to manage the various medical equipment networks. Troubleshoot and resolve network problems to maximize uptime.
  • 10% of the time: Manage and maintain all documentation as it relates to the various types of network systems for medical equipment.
  • 15% of the time: Manages the updates to all medical equipment and network hardware that require regular basis. They also work with the manufacturers of medical equipment to validate security fixes to that type of equipment, and schedule their application.
  • 20% of the time: Works with IT and MDI in coordinating medical equipment integration to medical information systems for capturing data for patient care. Also assist local Biomed Managers in these integrations and support.
  • 20% of the time: Provides education and supervision to Biomedical staff.
  • 10% of the time: Works with the Manager on developing policies and procedures and other assistance as needed.
  • 5% of the time: Performs preventative maintenance inspections as needed.
