SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Current Australian driver’s license, Electrical Safety Testing certification, Diploma/Trade qualification in Electronics, and management experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, electronics, IT systems, asset management, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook; strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Skilled in asset management systems, equipment maintenance, and resolving technical issues in healthcare settings.
  • Proven leadership, team motivation, performance reviews, and resource management to maintain safety and quality.
  • Ability to ensure safety, maintain effective work practices, manage spare parts, and comply with mandatory training.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Biomedical and Electronics Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of Grampians Health Ballarat, ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of essential medical equipment. Reporting to the Biomedical Services Manager, you’ll oversee the performance, upkeep, and repair of a wide range of biomedical and electronic systems. This dynamic role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring that equipment is always ready and functioning at its best to support high-quality patient care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team of biomedical technologists, delegating tasks, ensuring timely completion, and providing ongoing training on new technologies and best practices.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and the installation of biomedical equipment to minimize downtime and support hospital operations.
  • Ensure all equipment meets regulatory standards and safety guidelines, conducting inspections, maintaining documentation, and supporting audits and compliance checks.
  • Work with clinicians and healthcare professionals to ensure equipment meets clinical needs, and advise on the procurement of new technologies.
  • Manage spare parts inventory within budget, ensuring availability of necessary items without overstocking, and recommend cost-effective repair methods.
  • Maintain service records, prepare performance reports, and stay updated on industry trends to suggest improvements and innovations for better healthcare delivery.
