Description
The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and technical support of medical devices distributed by Facey Commodity under the Hospital Equipment & Supplies portfolio. This includes infusion systems, renal and dialysis equipment, monitoring systems, and related consumables. The incumbent ensures that all medical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards, supporting both public and private healthcare institutions across Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. Core Responsibilities & Duties • Installation & Commissioning – Install, configure, and validate medical devices at healthcare facilities according to manufacturer protocols and safety standards. • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance – Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration, and timely repairs to ensure optimal device performance and minimize downtime. • Technical Support – Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting assistance to healthcare professionals, technicians, and internal teams. • Documentation & Reporting – Maintain detailed maintenance logs, calibration certificates, and service reports in accordance with company and regulatory standards. • Customer & Principal Liaison – Serve as the technical contact for hospital biomedical departments and regional service teams to coordinate issue resolution and product upgrades. • Training – Conduct product use and maintenance training sessions for healthcare staff and internal personnel. • Inventory & Spare Parts Management – Monitor spare parts usage and recommend reorder levels to ensure uninterrupted service support. • Compliance & Safety – Adhere to all applicable health, safety, and infection control standards during installation and maintenance activities. • Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to enhance service quality, documentation accuracy, and customer satisfaction. • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field. • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in installation, maintenance, or servicing of medical equipment. • Hands-on experience with hospital or clinical devices preferred. • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, calibration instruments, and maintenance software. • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and own a reliable motor vehicle. • Willingness to travel island-wide and regionally as required.
